Build: 10/01/22 build
« on: October 01, 2022, 07:55:01 pm »
This build has some really cool fixes.  The main feature added is the ability to turn on and off the Lighting feature from the INI file, search for lighting in that file and you'll find it.  Lighting is not working properly in the simulator, but you can try it out.

I'd recommend mainly using the "OpenGL3 Plus" rendering system, even though parts of Caelum don't work with it, that system is now working well.  For Mac, I added the Metal renderer which doesn't seem to be working yet.

This build has (at least from what I can tell) full fixes for running on Mac, including the addition of M1 (ARM) Mac support.  The Mac package has been simplified so that now you can drag the Skyscraper app icon into your Applications folder and run it from there.  To get to your buildings and images, right-click the Skyscraper app, choose "Show Package Contents", go into Contents, and everything is in the "Resources" folder.

The Linux build has been rearranged to clean up the files in it, so it should look much better now.  Skyscraper is launched from a "skyscraper" script, so to run it, just run that script.

There's also a new Raspberry Pi build.

As usual, let me know how this build is working, and help me fix any issues with it.

Skyscraper also has a new architecture mention in the Statistics window, and this is what it looks like when you run it on an ARM/M1 Mac (this screenshot is of a Mac on Amazon AWS that I used for testing):

There appears to be a problem with clicking objects in this version, I'm looking into this and working on a fix.  This was apparently a side effect of the Mac fix.

The website links should work now too.

Update: I put out a fix for the mouse issue, I'll be getting packages re-uploaded eventually.

Another update: All packages have been uploaded with the fix.

Yup, they do now. I'll give some feedback in points. Firstly, whatever Verbose Mode is supposed to do, it crashed my game right away. You were right about clicking not working, as it actually doesn't work at all in this version for some reason. Can't even open doors. Regarding Noclip Mode, I would make it so you can actually fly while having the Freelook option on, e.g. flying in the direction the mouse is located. If you ever played Half-Life and flew around with noclip, you know what I'm talking about. In the future, something like changing the controls to fit everyone individually would be really nice. One of the few things I would love to be added is a on-screen FPS Counter as an option. In the Camera Control panel, have you thought about the Set Camera option having just one line defining X, Y, Z separated by commas or something else, not having to set X, Y, Z in all three lines? Maybe that would be a cool thing. Other than not being able to interact with doors and elevators at all, it's a cool version. As lighting is just only a experimental feature yet, I won't be that harsh; it doesn't work for doors and elevators and it's very messed up currently. I'm sure it'll be better in the next release, though. I love that this game is still getting some proper updates even after so many years. Continue the good work, mate! ;)

If you're still having issues, download the package again, since it now has the mouse fix.  For some of the things you mentioned, Skyscraper already has a keyboard.ini file that lets you change part of the keyboard configuration.  You'll get the FPS in the console if you press the F2 button, but I might try to get it onto the rendering screen.
