Working download link for macOS systems
« on: May 06, 2021, 12:41:59 pm »
Well, since the sbs.io website shut down, there has been no download link available for Skyscraper that is compatible with macOS. Since I first got Skyscraper on my mac computer, I have had a total of 7 spare builds from experimenting with the simulator, which I have put together to create a working macOS download for the community.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Go to this link and click "Download"
2. Wait for the ZIP to download to your Downloads folder
3. If it has not been decompressed already, decompress the ZIP
4. Pull the "skyscraper" folder onto the desktop
5. Click into the folder and run "skyscraper.app" (on some systems this may display as just "skyscraper")
Now you have a fully working Skyscraper build on your macOS system.
Please reply here if any error messages come up, or if any missing BZ2s, TARs or DMGs are required.

NOTE 1: This link is for Skyscraper 2.0 Alpha 11, also known as the latest development build.
NOTE 2: I cannot promise that this will work on every computer. If you have a good 64-bit mac, it should be able to run, but on 32-bit systems the quality may vary. Also I cannot promise that it will work on macOS Big Sur due to slight code incompatibility.
NOTE 3: Some mods have been made to the INI file to make the simulator faster paced and easier to control.

If anybody here uses Debian, Linux or Ubuntu as their daily driver and has a compatible version of Skyscraper for those operating systems, please make a copy of the folder, remove any custom data or buildings, upload it to a website and link it here, for those who use Linux-based operating systems.

32-bit Macs haven’t been supported by the operating system since 2011. 32-bit software meanwhile hasn’t been supported since 2019.

Ah right. Still I wanted to mention it just in case someone is using unsupported hardware or software.

If macOS 10.13+ is relevant for here (sorry if it's not), on macOS High Sierra and Mojave; I have to make a terminal directory at (path to skyscrapersim dir)/skyscraper/skyscraper.app/Contents/MacOS/ then run ./skyscraper in order for the game to open.
