9/11 Twin Towers
« on: September 11, 2023, 12:37:08 pm »
Since its that day. Is there anyone on here or are there any plans to make a build of the original World Trade Center complex? IE, WTC 1-7, 99 elevators in each tower, stairways, etc. Think it would be really neat to have an authentic version of that, idk about freedom tower though. It would be similar in function to the Triton Complex. How come  that hasnt been done?

What a coincidence as I was doing research on doing so right now! I'm not sure if I will do it myself or as a community project. It likely hasn't been done due to the difficulty and complexity of the design.

I think you should after your Sandy Spire and Palace Tower are done. Your mega projects are pretty good and you would be well equipped to handle the complex systems of the WTC Complex. Of course you will need different textures. I would start with tower 1 then tower 2 and go from there. Would you do that?

The Palace Tower will complete very soon. I'm planning for November to mark the end of that project. As for The World Trade Center, it could take the place of The Palace Tower for my projects if I decide to work on it. Some existing textures will be reused, while others will be completely new. I'm working on bring Otis Lexan Fixtures to The Palace Tower. These fixtures would be reused in The World Trade Center.

Right new exterior textures will be needed. I am curious as to why no one on here hasn't made it already? Is it under copyright?

It will take a while to make textures. As far as why nobody made these towers on Skyscrapersim has multiple reasons. These were extremely complex buildings that are no longer in existence. It's already hard recreating a building that no longer exists. Something of this scale takes years of work. There is also the controversy of recreating such buildings.

I actually wanted to make those buildings too, there was a WTC1.bld file a long time ago when I was planning on making it, but I never did.  I noticed that someone else modeled a WTC building in some other software, I remember seeing a video of it.

Do you have a link for the WTC.bld and data? Or the project rendered in other software?

The WTC.bld didn't really have anything in it, so you wouldn't want it :) I just vaguely remember it being rendered in other software, you'd have to look around online for it, maybe it was a youtube video or something I saw, of a 3D rendering of it.

I started, but never completed it because I'm rubbish at reading the scans. If anyone wants to help with making numbers more clear (and probably also changing how the measurements are done so it's easier to code in), it'd be well appreciated.

Plans I found online: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kp8Pohdf4-9m6FUfxw56DunCNlpMbS80/view

Yeah I already have those plans that someone on here sent me. Maybe it was you? I have a pretty good idea of how the North and South tower were laid out. Also, check out some of the world trade center games on Roblox and the Osterman World Trade Center as they are pretty good basis to go on.

This Roblox experience actually captures the scale and measurements of the North Tower pretty well despite being unfinished. I highly recommend looking at it.
