How to export mesh files from Blender?
« on: July 05, 2021, 08:09:18 pm »
I want to create some mesh models for my building in Blender, but I'm not sure how to export to that format. The format itself doesn't seem to be very well documented, and seems to possibly vary between different libraries. Does anyone have experience with this?

I've been trying for years and still haven't figured it out.

If only I could get the source code for Skyscraper, I'd make so many fixes. Basic things like supporting 8-bit alpha in textures, OBJ models and so much more. I found Ryan's email and asked for source, so maybe I'll be able to obtain it, or maybe I'll just be ignored even though I'm pretty sure we're entitled to source code under the GPL.

I guess for now I'll look into this tool (https://wiki.ogre3d.org/Blender+Exporter).

You would have to install a tool called blender2ogre in Blender to convert an .OBJ/.FBX/.STL to a .mesh file. (Works for 2.8+)

Together, we can innovate Skyscrapersim in many ways that has never been seen before. Just bring up an idea and we can implement it!
