It's a simple question: Has anyone on here ever been stuck in a lift? (elevator for those of you who live over the pond) I personally haven't, but I came very close in some nearby medium shopping centre when I went up the escalator at the same time as a woman went up the lift and she got stuck)
EDIT: I would also like to know how long it was for and what it was like?
-
I have before, but the footage I took of it was lost

For how long were you stuck? What was it like in the lift?
-
I haven't been stuck yet, which is surprising considering the number of elevators i've been in...

One hour

So far I've been stuck in an elevator once, and it was only a few minutes caused by a jammed door in a cheap generic elevator.

Thames valley generic at frenchgate Doncaster.
It goes ultra slow for the distance (0.3 m/s going 3 floors) and I went down in it and it decided to stop for 10 minutes. Eventually it recalled to the ground floor.

I safety broke a Schindler 3300 once and I thought I got stuck. The lift reset itself after 30 horrible seconds of thinking that I had got stuck XD. It was risky though because I was in a hotel and the housekeeper was walking up and down the corridor outside the lift. I safety broke it between floor 2 and floor 3 and the housekeeper was on floor 2. Luckily it went down to floor zero and reset itself.

Yes, 11 times. 3 of them were Otis, 1 of them were Kone, the other 7 were Schindler. My longest entrapment time was 7 minutes.
-
For me, i currently still not stuck

I've been stuck in an elevator once, but luckily not for long. The elevator stopped between the 3.rd and the 4.rd floor, the floor indicator went out. After 10 seconds it moved to the 3.rd floor. After 30 seconds it went to the floor -1. The elevator was built by Haushahn in 1988.

Lucky! I get stuck all the time. The worst one happened fairly recently, I was stuck for around an hour before anyone came to help. Just kinda sat down, pulled out my laptop and posted a few stuff on here :D

How old are the elevators in which you often get stuck?

Usually around 2007 approximately, not very old, not very new. I can get stuck in completely new elevators too, though (knowing my luck :D)

Do you often get stuck in generics?

I maintain a private database which documents each time I've been trapped in a lift (or nearly trapped), for the duration of each occurrence (in minutes:seconds), which floor I was trapped on/between, make/model/fixture line of lift, location & date. In my database I currently have 41 incidents logged, since 2005 when I got trapped in my first one, which was in October 2005. 5 of the 41 were actual entrapments.

How long was your longest entrapment?

Do you often get stuck in generics?
50/50. Sometimes overall. I haven't been riding any elevators recently and have to change that, so I can't exactly tell you.

How long was your longest entrapment?
7 minutes, according to the database

not yet but I was very close of doing so in turkey in 2020 I think so nearly 3 years ago and yes I'm back after a year.

Been stuck recently for another good hour since anyone came. Those are the best times to just sit down, pull out your laptop to do some work or check your camera for the amazing shots you took of riding elevators right before you done messed up and got stuck! :D
I love these moments! I always carry the required tools with me to get the video file into my laptop and I can actually edit it in peace with headphones on. Fun times, really. Getting stuck often for longer periods of time is my curse which I secretly love but say I hate :)
