Elevator Discussion / Re: Which elevator company do you like the most?
« on: November 28, 2022, 01:16:16 pm »
While i've spent most of my life prefering Otis, which is the elevator brand I used the most on my buildings, i've recently grown to like Mitsubishi a lot.
I still like some specific models manufactured by Otis, like the Elevonic 411. While on Mitsubishi's case, i like pretty much everything on their elevators. The fixtures, the iconic chimes, the overall experience, all of these are just so nice.
They are nice elevators but I have never rode them

Software / Re: Custom alarm sound uses default sound upon release
« on: November 26, 2022, 02:19:13 pm »
There is an issue where if you load a 3rd party building and you hold the alarm button, it will go off as normal (using the custom sound), where as if you were to release it, instead of playing the custom alarm release sound effect it uses the original alarm ending sound effect (which is normally bell1-stop.wav unless it has been manually configured). The best example of this happening would be in BENO's Coalham Hospital where the main elevators (or lifts, if you are not in the US) would activate the phone once the alarm button is released. This happens in both 1.11 alpha and in alpha 10 (1.10). I know for sure that BENO edition skyscrapersim, as well as Alphas 7 & 8 will not have this issue. If someone will fix this, then great!
I don't know how to fix, this topic may been dead...
Try asking someone for Help.
I know, it’s not a major feature but it is still helpful regardless

Off Topic / Re: How long have you been play Skyscrapersim for?
« on: November 23, 2022, 09:39:18 pm »
For me it’s possibly 2012-2013, and the first version I used was Skyscrapersim BENO edition. Then I started using Alpha 8, 9, 10, and 11

Off Topic / The making of an Elevator/Lift Enthusiast Community Iceberg
« on: November 22, 2022, 10:51:01 pm »
Hello there!
Years ago, there used to be a online internet trend where people would make iceberg charts about famous films, video games or various other interests in the internet community. Basically, people would take an image of an iceberg and then place specific details about a topic into a segment and arrange it from top to bottom depending on how complex the situation is. The tip of the iceberg represents general knowledge of a subject to most people, where as the bottom of the iceberg would represent deeper knowledge that only devoted enthusiasts would know about everything about a particular subject, and then become the foundation of why this topic even exists. This way, the whole thing would be viewed to represent the entire knowledge of the elevator community in one picture.

Here is an example of an image about an iceberg that people would download onto their computers and then edit it later:

To explain things further, I came across a video called "Elevator Community Iceberg" by a YouTube user by the name of PaulDoesElevators. This is the only example of a creation of an iceberg based on his knowledge of the elevator community. His ideas are definitely intriguing and even funny to some extent.
(BE CAREFUL AS I FOUND OUT THE VIDEO ITSELF MAY HAVE SOME UNSETTLING DETAILS)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQOItAzL0x4

I think we should make another elevator community iceberg, but this time, it would be much more in depth. We would need jot down tons of ideas and expand our knowledge on lifts/elevators. For example, "10 year old lift gets a slap on mod by a unreliable generic company" would sound like a cool, terrific idea. An even crazier idea would be "Otis Gen2 gets modded by Evans Lift Alliance" ;D . Although I actually live in the US, not the UK, I just know this based on the fact I'm subscribed to YouTubers like BENO and mrmattandmrchay.

I wonder what other ideas would we be able to contribute...  ::)

I choose Otis because Otis.

In other words, efficient power system (gen 2), and iconic fixture sets [most notably the Series 1 although they had a line of other good fixtures as well]. Also, they are the first to pioneer the “Safety Elevator” invention.

Data / Re: My Test Builds
« on: November 12, 2022, 09:01:05 am »
Suggestion :
  • Schindler 5500 (Asian and European Version)
  • Schindler D-Series
  • Otis 2000
  • Otis GeN2 Life
  • Otis GeN2 (Asian And European Version)
  • Kone Monospace KDS
  • Shanghai Mitsubishi
  • Mitsubishi ELMOTION and NEXIZER
  • FUJI
  • Sigma Di2
  • Generic Temple Lifts (UK) With Lester Controls Voiceover
  • FUJITEC With CP-A1 Fixtures
Suggestions are good but just to let you know, I may not do all of them because the point of this project is to use LoadCropped and AddOverlay commands. Usually the square/rectangular fixtures tend to be easier for me to do.
Also the voiceover requires an external voice module so I won’t be able to do it unfortunately :(. You might have to do it yourself or contact someone from that area if they let you. In the meantime, when I’m available, I will do as much of the suggestions as I possibly can.

So far the new 1.11 update has fixed the texture issue. By the way, do you want more fixture sets to be released?

I decided to try out Multiple buildings to see if it’s just a building error with the new build and IT WORKS PERFECTLY ;D. No problems whatsoever. Nothing else needs to be said.

Works fine for me ;)
Try my test builds to see if they work for you. These builds have EXTENSIVELY pushed the boundaries of these commands

There are 2 Mitsubishi elevators.

You need gooper1 datapack for this building to work

Download link: https://mega.nz/file/td1SCaRa#urxgZ-WzoZVu_xmVol5XrSvUvSTJA7Jrlzc-1LDrm5M

Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McMxAki2FvI

In the left lift press shift + (click the mouse on the door) to open the door because of a bug.

2x mitsubishi elevators
You may be able to fix the bug by putting this building into my building creator again

I loaded Simple-Destination.bld and it appears there is the floor 10 button on the outside of the elevator with no changes to the cab. Wonder what the final result is going to be …  ::)

Software / addoverlay is glitched
« on: October 31, 2022, 10:05:30 pm »
I decided to test my buildings in 1.11 and I believe it was glitched up. I used the latest build by the way. It’s only the Addoverlay command as I found out loadcropped actually works. To clarify I even tried to replace second texture with a non cropped texture for addoverlay and it’s still glitched.

here is proof it works in alpha 10:

This is what I get in 1.11 (latest: 10/26/22 build)

However, I have noticed the fonts look noticeably better in 1.11 as opposed to 1.10
