Modular-Built Hotels!
« on: December 19, 2019, 11:20:24 pm »
Not sure if anyone has heard of this new trend, but I stumbled upon this article today on Yahoo Finance about how hotel companies are starting to build some of their new buildings using modular sections, similar to LEGO sets.

Ultimately, this allows for speedier and more cost effective construction of the building. This practice has probably been done worldwide already, but the trend is starting to come here to the US. Nationwide, more and more chains are picking up on the trend, specifically Marriott who is mentioned in this article. A brand new Marriott location that was built modularly is set to open late next year (it's got 26 floors). Doing some other research, another article I found mentions a brand new Hilton Garden Inn that will be built modularly.

As a lot of us here are interested not only in buildings, architecture, but also hotels, figured this would be a good thing to share. Let me know your thoughts.
