Love the I-beams! Such a simple touch that makes the building look so much more realistic.

Update: May 17, 2026
First hint of an elevator...
All of the joists, steel I-beams and girder trusses alike, have now been put in and finished in both the Seashell Building and the Sandbar Wing. Because these are now finished, I have now started work on the service elevators in the Seashell Building. They are currently just simple 7.5-by-7.5 feet platforms, but will become full elevators soon. They do already work (technically), but require using the elevator editor because the floor buttons are not yet present. I have also made a few other minor fixes throughout the building.
To-do (structural):
- Columns: Done
- Floors: Done
- Interfloor: Almost done
- Elevators: Making good progress
- Stairwells: Making good progress

Update: May 18, 2026
Service elevators now... here.
I have just begun to make major progress on the service elevators. The button panels have now been added, along with the doors and general cab framing. Currently, the button panels are in a temporary central spot, but will be moved closer to the door later. I have also adjusted all of the shaft cuts so that they can accommodate the elevator doors. After my break, I will continue on the service elevators, adding the cab interiors, floor indicators, call buttons, guide rails, counterweights, and so on.
To-do (structural):
- Columns: Done
- Floors: Done
- Interfloor: Almost done
- Elevators: Making good progress
- Stairwells: Good progress made (on hold)

Update: June 7, 2026
Major service elevator progress
I have just added floor indicators to the service elevators. I have also added cab interior panels and trims (but not yet the handrails), and the ceiling lights have also been added. I have also added the call buttons, officially making these elevators realistically usable (the elevator editor no longer has to be used to call the elevators). Coming up, I will add the guide rails, counterweights, and cartops.
To-do (structural):
- Columns: Done
- Floors: Done
- Interfloor: Almost done
- Elevators: Making good progress
- Stairwells: Good progress made (on hold)

Update: June 10, 2026
Realistic cartops(!)
There's been more major progress on the service elevators. Realistic cartops (possibly another SkyscraperSim first*) have been added, which include cab frames, railings, and accurate inspection stations (also known as top boxes). I have also added the rails, ropes, and counterweights, and the ropes connect directly to the frames. Inside the elevator cabs, I have added almost all accessories (including firefighter's operation cabinets, emergency lights, etc., except the handrails) and internal (door jamb) lanterns. I have also added door trims and hoistway access keyswitches, and slowed down the elevators slightly to a more realistic speed (24 feet per second instead of 30). After my break, I will add the finishing touches to the service elevators, which include machine rooms, fire service, and external combination lantern/floor indicators. (*Lift Excelsior may have beat me to this with Esyriel, but I don't exactly know if he did.)
To-do (structural):
- Columns: Done
- Floors: Done
- Interfloor: Almost done
- Elevators: Making good progress
- Stairwells: Good progress made (on hold)

The top boxes look really good.  Skyscraper has good functional support for them, so they should work well for you.

I don't think I've seen anyone do detailed cartops on Skyscrapersim before.

Update: June 23, 2026
Lanterns, handrails, floor signs, oh my!
I have just added the handrails to the service elevators, officially completing the cabs for the service elevators. I have also added custom voices to these elevators, along with fire service, combination lantern/floor indicators on the outside of the elevators, and floor signs on the door trims. Therefore, the service elevators are mostly done; I just have to add the machine rooms now, which will be up next. After that, I will start work on another set of elevators in the Palm Tree Plaza.
To-do (structural):
- Columns: Done
- Floors: Done
- Interfloor: Almost done
- Elevators: Making good progress (service elevators almost done)
- Stairwells: Good progress made (on hold)
